Baltimore Sports Health Initiative Launches "The BASH Playbook" with Support from NFL Players Association

Updated: Apr 20

The Baltimore Area Sports Health Initiative has taken a significant step forward with the launch of "The BASH Playbook" thanks to a generous grant from the National Football League Players Association. This initiative, matching Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey's donation, aims to revolutionize athlete wellness by introducing them to new career paths through sports health tips.

"The BASH Playbook" serves as a comprehensive digital handbook, offering invaluable insights into various aspects of sports health and career development. Edition one covers athletic training, sports dietetics, strength and conditioning, and physical therapy.

The highlight of the playbook is its focus on practical guidance. “We wanted to expose the

students to these careers in a way they’ve never seen before,” said Collin Francis, Executive

director. “Student athletes wonder what their plate should look like during pregame meal. We give them the information, and if they really take to it, we give them resources to explore the world of sports dietetics.” The handbook goes beyond mere advice by detailing pathways for aspiring professionals.

With its innovative approach, "The BASH Playbook" is set to empower athletes with the

knowledge and resources they need to excel both on and off the field. This initiative represents a collaborative effort to promote holistic well-being within the sports community, paving the way for healthier and more fulfilling careers.
